We carried out a fair test to show us the importance of wearing a bicycle helmet to protect our heads when riding bikes and scooters.
We placed two eggs into clear plastic cups. We used a toilet roll tube to standardise the height that the battery was dropped from onto the eggs. One egg was uncovered; the other egg had the protection of padding covered with a hard plastic disk to replicate a bicycle helmet.
The unprotected egg cracked when the battery dropped onto it.
The protected egg remained intact when the battery was dropped onto it.
