We carried out a fair test to show us the importance of wearing a bicycle helmet to protect our heads when riding bikes and scooters.
We placed an egg into a clear plastic cup. We used a toilet roll tube to standardise the height that the battery was dropped from onto the egg. The egg was left uncovered and then the next time, we added the protection of padding covered with a hard plastic disk to replicate a bicycle helmet.
The unprotected egg cracked when the battery dropped onto it.
The protected egg remained intact when the battery was dropped onto it.
We discussed the importance of protecting our heads with a bicycle helmet when riding our bikes and scooters.
