On Tuesday 28th February, Mrs Murphy's Year 4 class took the opportunity to celebrate Pancake Tuesday with a bit of baking :)
We are lucky to have a student teacher, Miss Gowdy with us at the moment and she very kindly brought us the ingredients for pancakes! We discussed the recipe with Miss Gowdy and then were able to record it as part of literacy activities. We took turns adding the ingredients to a bowl, sieving the flour, caster sugar and baking powder. Then we added the egg. We had a little accident with the egg but we don't cry over spilt egg so we cleaned it up and carried on.
Then we whisked the ingredients together. It was hard work!
After that, Mrs Eadie cooked the pancake while we listened for a sizzle and watched for the bubbles. We know that when there are a lot of bubbles popping at the top of the pancake, then it is time to flip them.
Finally, we buttered our pancakes, added lemon and sugar and ate them all up! They were delicious!
