Mrs Murphy's Year 4 class Greenfingers

26th May 2017

On Friday 26th May, Mrs Murphy's class took advantage of the beautiful weather and visited our new garden and outdoor classroom.

We wanted to plant some nasturiums in our raised beds to compliment our salad plants and to decorate our raised beds.

We planted them at the edges so they will trail down attractively and we can also pick the flowers eventually to add to our salads because they are an edible variety of nasturium.

We took the opportunity to explore the Bug Hotel and spotted ladybirds as well as cabbage white butteflies.

Finally, we investigated the different herbs that some of us has previously planted including dill, feverfew, celery leaf, rosemary, thyme, oregano and chives.  We smelled and tasted them, and we talked about their medicinal and culinary uses.

It was too lovely a day to miss the chance to enjoy our wonderful outdoor classroom and we all had a great time.
